Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis implementasi teori Self-Determination (SDT) yang dikembangkan oleh Ryan dan Deci dalam meningkatkan motivasi intrinsik siswa pada pembelajaran matematika. SDT menekankan tiga kebutuhan psikologis dasar: otonomi, kompetensi, dan keterkaitan sosial sebagai fondasi motivasi intrinsik. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuasi-eksperimental dengan desain pretest-posttest terhadap 60 siswa kelas VIII di salah satu sekolah menengah di Aceh Utara. Implementasi dilakukan melalui strategi pembelajaran yang mendukung otonomi siswa dalam memilih metode penyelesaian masalah, memberikan umpan balik konstruktif untuk meningkatkan kompetensi, serta menciptakan lingkungan kolaboratif yang memperkuat keterkaitan sosial. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan pada motivasi intrinsik siswa sebesar 73% dengan nilai p<0.05, disertai peningkatan prestasi belajar matematika rata-rata dari 65.4 menjadi 78.6. Temuan ini mengonfirmasi bahwa pemenuhan ketiga kebutuhan psikologis dasar dalam SDT berkontribusi positif terhadap pengembangan motivasi belajar yang berkelanjutan dan bermakna dalam konteks pembelajaran matematika.
